Looking for the perfect, picturesque town to visit this holiday season? Look no further than Taos, New Mexico! Taos was recently named one of the best small towns to visit during Christmas!
HGTV recently released a list of the top 50 small towns to visit for Christmas. They identified a group of "small towns with big Christmas spirit," all of which promise "to deliver a storybook Christmas filled with candy canes, hot chocolate and Santa." If you're looking for a cozy, magical holiday trip, then HGTV knows just where you should look! Taos was one of the towns that made it onto the incredibly competitive list.
Speaking of Taos, HGTV wrote: "Taos is known for its rich Native American and Hispanic heritage, which adds a unique cultural flair to holiday celebrations during Yuletide. From November through New Year's Day, visitors can observe the traditional Mexican remembrance of the season dubbed Los Posadas or experience festivities like the Taos Folk pop-up market, the Sagebrush Winter Jamboree Arts & Crafts Fair and the Lighting of Ledoux, where farolitos, luminarias and bonfires illuminate one of the town's most historic avenues."
Los Posadas, which is a nine day celebration of religious observance beginning December 16 and ending December 24, is a favorite local event. You can learn more about it here: https://taos.org/events/annual-event/las-posadas/
