San Diego Magazine Shares an Artist’s Guide to Santa Fe

One of our favorite things about Santa Fe is its awesome art scene. If you’re interested in art, then you’ll find lots to love in this creative city. Recently, San Diego Magazine shared a neat Artist’s Guide to Santa Fe. Here’s what they suggested!

Santa Fe has a richly creative history. Even before the city was founded, Pueblo tribes were making pottery, baskets, and blankets. Traditional art, including silver and turquoise jewelry, can still be purchased across the city. (Check out the Turquoise Trail to see this first-hand!)

Today, the gorgeous scenery is a major draw for artists, writers, and musicians seeking inspiration. There’s a reason that Georgia O’Keefe spent so much time in Santa Fe!

In her piece for San Diego Magazine, Annelise Jolley recommends walking along Canyon Road and visiting the visual art galleries there. Here, you’ll find contemporary, abstract, modern, western, and Native American art galleries. She also recommends stopping at The Teahouse’s garden patio for a meal.

Nearby, you’ll find both the  IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts and the New Mexico Museum of Art. In the neighborhood, you’ll also find central plaza- a historic hub that frequently hosts live music.

Jolley insists that creatives can’t leave Santa Fe without visiting the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and we agree. This is currently the only museum in the world dedicated to an American female artist.
