If you're a skier, then you've probably been anxiously watching the weather this season. Snowfall so far has been lacking, leaving New Mexico's ski resorts in a difficult position. Some resorts have been unable to open, while others have struggled to preserve the snow that they have. Things have begun to look up, however!

New Year's Eve brought much-needed snowfall to New Mexico. According to OpenSnow, the storm that lasted December 30 through January 1 brought snowfall totaling up to 25 inches across the mountains. At Ski Santa Fe, there was an additional 5 inches of blower, which meant skiers could enjoy fresh powder across all terrain this morning!

This snow is being heralded as miracle snow for resorts and skiers, as well as the community, which depends on yearly snowfall for water supply. Fingers are crossed across the state for further snowfall soon!

Resorts are optimistic about the season to come. This weekend's snowfall has increased hope for snowier days ahead. There is still plenty of time to build up the base depth and hit the slopes! The season is looking better by the day.
